"TREK February 1943" is a digitally sourced replication of a literary magazine created and published by internees of the Topaz Relocation Center in Delta, Utah, accessed courtesy of Utah State University's online collection. "TREK" investigates the recreation of a personal history that has become inaccessible somehow, and the struggle to reconcile the sterile or removed way one is forced to interact with content that is deeply personal because of this inaccessibility. Using a combination of digital file manipulation and time-intensive hand processes, 'TREK" seeks to reclaim or investigate the narratives in familial history that are too painful to be discussed openly. My great-aunt Toyo Suyemoto's poem "In Topaz" is also featured within the publication.
